SEI Advisor Network

John Anderson is the managing director of Practice Management Solutions for the SEI Advisor Network. He has been with SEI for over 20 years and is responsible for all programs focused on helping financial advisors grow their businesses, create efficiencies in their operations and differentiate their practices. John is frequently quoted in publications, such as Investment News, Financial Planning magazine and The Wall Street Journal, and is a frequent speaker at broker-dealer conferences, client seminars and other industry forums.  He is also the lead author of SEI’s practice management blog, Practically Speaking, found at seic.com/practicallyspeaking.  Alongside his practice management responsibilities, he also manages a team that provides investment research, case support, analysis and financial planning ideas to bolster the efforts of SEI’s advisors.

 

The Schwab Center for Financial Research

Anthony Davidow, vice president, alternative beta and asset allocation strategist, The Schwab Center for Financial Research, is responsible for providing Schwab’s point of view on asset allocation and portfolio construction. He is also responsible for providing research and analysis on alternative beta strategies and how investors can incorporate them in portfolios and is a member of the firm’s Asset Allocation Council. Previously, Mr. Davidow was a managing director, portfolio strategist, and head of the ETF Knowledge Center for Guggenheim Investments. Before that, he was executive vice president and head of distribution for IndexIQ. He also spent 15 years at Morgan Stanley, where he served as managing director, and head of sales and training for the consulting services group, and worked with many of the firm’s largest clients in developing and implementing asset allocation strategies, incorporating active and passive strategies, and using alternative investments as risk management tools. He has authored several white papers and strategy pieces, and spoken at industry conferences on a range of topics. He earned a B.B.A in finance and investments, Bernard M. Baruch College. He served on IMCA’s board of directors from 2009 to 2014.

Purpose Generation

Alexandra Douwes, co-founder, Purpose Generation, helps brands connect with the next generation of consumers and talent.  As the head of strategy and operations for the organization, she is passionate about designing purpose-driven strategies and helping companies navigate how the Millennial generation consumes, works, invests, and communicates.  Ms. Douwes has worked with many clients, including Campbell Soup Company, Wells Fargo Bank, AARP, and Morgan Stanley, on how to cultivate and grow interest among Millennials.  Previously, she worked across a wide range of industries at Bain and Company and served the Acumen Fund, where she supported the global expansion team.  She is a graduate of Princeton University.    

Pennington Partners & Co.

Brian Gaister, co-founder and chief executive officer, Pennington Partners & Co., has extensive experience managing and advising families of significant wealth.  His Securities and Exchange Commission-registered multi-family office specializes in multi-generational wealth management and offers an array of advisory services, including family governance, philanthropic consulting, investment management, and comprehensive family office development.  Previously, Mr. Gaister co-founded a group at a national wirehouse firm where he led the majority of the ultra-high-net-worth relationships and managed more than $630 million in assets.  From 2012-2014, he was named to the premier advisors list of the National Association of Board Certified Advisory Practices.

SEI Advisor Network

Raef Lee, managing director and head of new services and strategic partnerships, SEI Advisor Network, SEI Investments Co., identifies new services and markets and defines new product offerings for the network by partnering with best-of-breed companies or shepherding the requirements into the firm’s development teams.  Mr. Lee leverages the network’s innovativebusiness model for new markets and was instrumental in developing the roadmap for the firm’s SEI Wealth Platfrom.  Previously, he held multiple senior level roles at Destiny Software and Destiny WebSolutions, Inc.  He holds a B.S. and M. Eng., Durham University.

Julie Littlechild, founder, AbsoluteEngagement.com, is a speaker, writer, and researcher, whose firm conducts on-going research into personal, client, and team engagement.  Previously, she founded Advisor Impact to help financial advisors gather and use client feedback to drive deeper engagement and growth.  Twice named as one of the “25 Most Influential People in Financial Planning” by Investment Advisor, she is a recipient of the Influencer Award in practice management from Financial Planning.  Ms. Littlechild has worked with and studied top-performing financial advisors, their clients, and their teams for more than 20 years.  A recognized expert on driving deeper engagement and growth, she is the author of a popular blog, The Pursuit of Absolute Engagement, and a book by the same name.  She earned an MBA, University of Toronto.

Noel Pacarro Brown, first vice president, financial advisor, and senior investment management consultant, The Pacarro Group at Morgan Stanley, helps clients experience success at every stage of life.  Based in Honolulu, Hawaii, her comprehensive wealth management teams work with clients across the country.  Ms. Paccaro Brown specializes in family wealth advising, institutional management, and impact investing.  An influential member of multiple national industry councils, she has been published in blogs and publications, and annually presents at various conferences.  She is an honors graduate of Brown University and earned a master’s degree in teaching, Pacific University.

Heather Pelant, managing director, Baker Street Advisors, works closely with some of the San Francisco Bay area’s most financially successful families advising them on investment and financial strategies, and serves as a member of the firm’s management committee.  Previously, Ms. Pelant served as BlackRock’s personal investor strategist and as head of their direct to consumer business.  Her industry experience includes representing BlackRock and Morgan Stanley in San Francisco, Toronto, and Hong Kong.  Pelant is a lifelong advocate for women’s economic empowerment and serves on the American Heart Association’s executive leadership team for the Go Red for Women Initiative.  She earned a B.A., University of Victoria, an M.A., University of Hawaii, and an MBA, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

Brian Sharpes, managing director, UBS Consulting, is a nationally-recognized expert in serving nonprofit organizations.  With more than $3 billion in group assets, of which $1.4 billion are nonprofit client assets under management, he specializes in working with public and private institutions.  Named one of the top advisors in the country by the Financial Times, Barron’s, and On Wall Street, he is a frequent speaker at national conferences where he shares his expertise on portfolio design/implementation, consensus building, fiduciary education/liability, industry ethics, socially responsible investment strategies, and impact investing.  He earned a B.S., University of Nevada, and an M.N.A., University of San Francisco.

Location and Transportation

The Hilton San Francisco Financial District is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco and the Financial District. 

The hotel is served by three airports: San Francisco International Airport, Oakland International Airport and San Jose International Airport.

  • San Francisco Airport is 15 miles from the hotel (25 minutes by car).  A taxi is $50 each way.
  • Oakland International Airport is 25 miles from the hotel (40 minutes by car).  A taxi is $65 each way.
  • San Jose International Airport is 45 miles from the hotel (60 minutes by car).  A taxi is $150 each way.

Ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft service all three airports.

Shuttle service is available through Super Shuttle.  Super Shuttle offers hotel guests “Share-With” transportation to and from all three surrounding airports (see above) at a competitive rate.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is available from the San Francisco Airport and Oakland International Airport.    The closest station to the hotel is Montgomery Street station (half-mile away).

Parking

The Hilton San Francisco Financial District is offering attendees discounted self-parking rates of $30 for overnight guests and $15 for day parking.  Valet parking is also available with in-and-out privileges at $60 per night for overnight guests.

Cancellation/Transfer Policy
Cancellations for conference registration must be received in writing.  Please send cancellation requests to [email protected].  The registration fee less $50 cancellation fee will be refunded for cancellations received by May 30, 2017.  No refunds will be granted for cancellations received after May 30, 2017 or for nonattendance.

Continuing Education (CE) Credit

IMCA Certification (CIMA®, CIMC®, CPWA®).  This program will provide up to seven (7) hours CE credit.

IMCA will upload all CE earned directly to your My IMCA record within two weeks of the activity.  The program is subject to change. 

CFP® Certification.  This program has been accepted for up to 2.5 hours of CFP continuing education.  IMCA will report your attendance at individual conference sessions to the CFP Board on your behalf.

Please note that IMCA is not able to report to the CFP Board on your behalf if we do not have an accurate CFP ID.  Please check your My IMCA account to ensure that your CFP ID is in our database and is accurate.  IMCA will report the sessions you attend directly to the CFP Board.  The CFP Board will notify you when this occurs.

NASBA CPE Credit.  IMCA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy as a sponsor of CE on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors (ID 106054).  State boards of accountancy have final authority about the acceptance of individual courses.  Individuals are responsible for submitting any necessary paperwork and/or fees to their state boards.  Upon request, IMCA will provide a certificate of attendance after the conference.
