Rashad Wareh, partner, Kozusko Harris Vetter Wareh Duncan, LLP, serves as an advisor and general counsel to domestic and multi-national individuals and families, and as special counsel to professional advisors. Mr. Wareh counsels his clients on the tax and legal issues relating to their investments, business activities, estate planning, and charitable endeavors. His practice encompasses all aspects of estate and succession planning, and the governance of his clients' closely-held family businesses, holding structures, investment ventures, family offices and private trust companies. A significant number of his clients live in countries with challenging legal and political environments, in which they face threats of expropriation of family businesses and assets, as well as other forms of persecution. His practice for those families includes not only experience in the use of bilateral-investment treaties and their remedies against expropriation, but also more practical planning options to help families who are at risk in those jurisdictions. Wareh is the co-chair of the International Bar Association's Individual Tax and Private Client Committee, and an active member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners. He earned a B.A. in international studies magna cum laude, School of International Service, The American University, and a J.D., Duke University School of Law. Wareh is a member of the bar in New York, Virginia, and the District of Colombia.
