James Pupillo, managing director and partner, HighTower, Scottsdale, began his career in 1987 with E.F. Hutton’s Consulting Group (now Morgan Stanley Graystone Consulting).  In 2007, Mr. Pupillo began conceptual development of LDi-MAP with Frank Sortino at the Pension Research Institute.  He was chosen as one of “America’s Top 100” investment management consultants screened in 2006-2012 and ranked number one in Arizona in 2009 by Barron’s. Pupillo serves on the National Association of Plan Advisors Government Affairs Committee and is an adjunct lecturer for TRAU’s Plan Sponsor University.  He has served as president of the Institute for Investment Management Consultants and the Association for Investment Professional Investment Consultants, where he was the recipient of the John Coggins, Harry Irvine, and Tom Gorman Awards for leadership innovation and client dedication. An author of and contributor to numerous books on the subject of advanced portfolio construction and fiduciary responsibility, he is an active volunteer for many organizations and currently, the director of the Yavapai Indian Foundation.  He earned a B.S. in management administration and marketing, Indiana University, Bloomington.
